If you are experiencing issues with your camera, microphone, or audio during an interview, follow these troubleshooting steps for your specific device and browser.

Browser Permissions

The most common cause of audio and video issues is missing browser permissions. When you first join the interview, your browser will prompt you to allow access to your camera and microphone.
  1. Click the lock or tune icon on the left side of the address bar.
  2. Ensure the toggles for Camera and Microphone are turned on.
  3. If they are blocked, click Site settings, find Camera and Microphone, and change the setting to Allow.
  4. Refresh the page to apply changes.

Operating System Settings

If your browser has permission but the devices still do not work, your operating system might be blocking access.

macOS (Apple)

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences).
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Click on Camera. Ensure your browser (e.g., Chrome, Safari) is toggled on.
  4. Click on Microphone. Ensure your browser is toggled on.
  5. Restart your browser if you made changes.

Windows

  1. Open Settings (Windows key + I).
  2. Go to Privacy & security.
  3. Under App permissions, click Camera. Ensure Camera access is on, and Let desktop apps access your camera is turned on for your browser.
  4. Go back and click Microphone. Ensure Microphone access is on, and Let desktop apps access your microphone is turned on for your browser.

iOS (iPhone & iPad)

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Safari (or your preferred browser).
  3. Under Settings for Websites, tap Camera and set it to Allow.
  4. Tap Microphone and set it to Allow.

Android

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps > See all apps.
  3. Find and tap your browser (e.g., Chrome).
  4. Tap Permissions.
  5. Tap Camera and select Allow only while using the app.
  6. Tap Microphone and select Allow only while using the app.

Audio Troubleshooting

If you cannot hear the AI Interviewer, try the following steps:
  1. Check device volume: Ensure your device’s volume is turned up and not muted.
  2. Check browser tab: Ensure the browser tab is not muted. Right-click the tab and select Unmute site if available.
  3. Bluetooth devices: If you are using Bluetooth headphones, ensure they are connected properly in your device’s Bluetooth settings. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting helps.
  4. Different browser: If audio issues persist, try opening the interview link in a different browser.
If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, consider restarting your device or using a different device to complete your interview.
